Senior Electrical Engineer
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical engineering and design efforts for large, complex commercial projects from conceptual design through construction completion. This role requires a seasoned engineering professional who can provide technical leadership, develop innovative design solutions, and oversee multidisciplinary project coordination while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource for project teams, mentor junior engineers and designers, and work closely with clients, contractors, and internal leadership throughout every phase of project delivery.
Candidates must reside in the Cleveland metropolitan area or be willing to relocate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all aspects of electrical design, engineering, and specification development for commercial building projects.
- Developing conceptual and schematic electrical designs for complex projects within aggressive project schedules.
- Organizing and managing engineering activities throughout design and construction.
- Directing and mentoring engineers and designers assigned to project teams.
- Reviewing electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Coordinating closely with multidisciplinary project teams to meet project milestones and budget objectives.
- Performing site surveys, field investigations, and existing equipment assessments.
- Providing engineering support during construction, including responding to field questions and resolving technical issues.
- Monitoring project scope, engineering budgets, and construction budgets while proactively communicating potential changes.
- Assisting in developing and maintaining company engineering, drafting, and design standards.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, architects, and other project stakeholders.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical engineering and design for commercial building projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting, life safety, and building electrical systems.
- Experience preparing electrical calculations, construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously while managing schedules and budgets.
- Experience directing and mentoring engineering and design staff.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform site investigations and coordinate engineering support during construction.
- Candidates must currently reside in the Cleveland metropolitan area or be willing to relocate.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
- Experience with multidisciplinary engineering project coordination.
- Proficiency with industry-standard electrical design software and BIM/Revit platforms.
- Experience working directly with architects, contractors, and building owners on commercial construction projects.
