Position Overview:Mechanical Design Engineer
As a Mechanical Design Engineer
, you will lead the engineering and design of mechanical systems for both new construction and renovation projects, from concept through construction. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to expand their technical expertise while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the successful delivery of complex projects. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, code-compliant mechanical solutions and resolve engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the design and engineering of mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects
- Perform complex engineering calculations, including HVAC loads, equipment selection, system sizing, friction loss, and hydraulic calculations
- Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
- Develop engineering standards, methods, and quality control procedures
- Evaluate design alternatives and determine the most effective engineering solutions
- Direct the workflow of junior engineers while providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Prepare technical narratives and engineering responses to RFIs
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Minimum of 6 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical building systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing construction drawings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with CADD software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- Plumbing and fire protection systems
- Mechanical load calculations and equipment sizing
- Hydraulic and friction loss calculations
- CADD, Revit, and AutoCAD proficiency
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)
- Building codes and engineering standards
- Construction documentation and RFI responses
