Space Communications Engineer

We're looking for a technically sharp, customer-facing engineer to own the communications side of our business - the bridge between cutting-edge satellite communications hardware and the government and commercial customers who need it.

You'll lead technical sales for our satellite communications portfolio - high-rate RF downlink systems. From the first customer conversation to a signed deal, you'll be the technical expert who matches these products to mission needs across defense, civil, and commercial space programs. As we grow, this is the role that owns the communications domain end to end.

• Serve as the technical point of contact for customers evaluating our communications hardware - high-rate RF downlink systems (X/S/Ka-band).
• Translate mission and link requirements - data rates, frequency bands, link budgets, ground-segment compatibility - into product configurations, technical proposals, and quotes.
• Support communications-focused proposal development, including government SBIR/STTR submissions and RFI/RFP responses.
• Prepare and deliver technical briefings, capability presentations, and product demonstrations to satellite integrators, primes, and government program offices.
• Coordinate between our manufacturing partners' engineering teams and U.S. customers, keeping link and interface requirements aligned on both sides.
• Represent Alpha-Vector at industry conferences and customer meetings, and support pipeline development and competitive analysis across the communications market.

• U.S. citizenship - required for ITAR-controlled work and access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
• A working understanding of communications fundamentals - RF and/or optical link concepts, data rates, modulation, or link budgets.
• Strong communication skills - you can explain technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical decision-makers.
• Genuine interest in satellite communications and in the interface where engineering meets business development, plus willingness to travel for customer meetings and industry events.

• 1-3 years of experience in satellite communications, RF systems, photonics, or related space hardware.
• Familiarity with RF downlink (X/S/Ka-band) and spacecraft architecture.
• Understanding of link-budget analysis, and ground-segment architecture.
• Exposure to U.S. government contracting, DoD acquisition, or the SBIR/STTR process.
• Experience with technical proposal writing or pre-sales / sales engineering.
