Are you an executive technical leader capable of transforming a multi-site engineering group into a lean, highly predictable, and scalable delivery engine?

A premier global provider of rugged embedded computing and open-architecture hardware configurations is recruiting for a Vice President of Embedded Systems Engineering. Serving as a crucial technical advisor to the president and senior business units, you will drive engineering excellence across hardware, mechanical, electrical, systems, software, and validation teams. In this capacity, you will align mid- and long-term research and development plans with corporate profitability goals, ensure absolute compliance with industry regulations, and build high‑performing technical squads across multiple engineering hubs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the execution and strategic alignment of the multi-product engineering portfolio, maximizing productivity and speed‑to‑market.
  • Balance engineering creativity with fiscal discipline by assessing all technical initiatives through data‑driven ROI and risk management lenses.
  • Lead engineering teams through operating model evolutions, workflow updates, and modern capacity‑building practices.
  • Translate broad corporate strategy into granular engineering objectives, product roadmaps, and actionable resource plans.
  • Partner dynamically with finance, sales, and project management offices to enhance operational visibility and ensure delivery predictability.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal policies and ISO methodologies to secure optimal quality and compliance parameters.
  • Foster talent development across the engineering organization, identifying key performers and establishing robust succession plans for critical paths.
Core Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership success, emphasizing complex cross‑functional initiatives and executive accountability.
  • Specialized background working within aerospace, defense, or ruggedized embedded computing markets.
  • Strong financial acumen, focusing heavily on resource planning, budgeting, capacity management, and ROI analysis.
  • Proficiency leveraging digital tools, modern project methodologies, and PLM/ERP databases to inform engineering decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of defense‑related compliance architectures, including ISO and ITAR standards.
  • Strong leadership traits, marked by transparent communication, transparency, and a passion for teaching and mentoring.
