Job Title
Technical Expert for Navy's Hypersonic Weapon System
Job DescriptionDuties:
- Serve as a technical expert within the Fight Systems Branch (SPC2) of the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program office leading development of Navy's Hypersonic Weapon System.
- Lead the technical execution and delivery of complex weapon system capabilities within an assigned Area of Responsibility by managing the efforts of contractors, laboratories, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Direct the translation of operational needs into rigorous technical specifications and actively manage the engineering requirements baseline throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
- Apply professional engineering and physical science principles to conduct technical trade studies, resolve complex hardware integration issues, and oversee test and evaluation activities to verify system performance.
- Develop and analyze integrated project schedules to forecast potential delays, identifying technical risks and aggressively driving mitigation plans to ensure on-time delivery.
- Support budget formulation and contracting strategies by developing detailed cost estimates, translating technical requirements into actionable procurement packages, and monitoring financial execution.
Requirements:

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition
Functional Area
and category assigned to the position is required within established category time frames. - Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience performing engineering analysis, systems design, or technical project management to support the development, integration, testing, or delivery of complex hardware or technical capabilities.
