SATCOM RF Engineer IV
Location:
Washington, D.C. Clearance: TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
Experience in communication system development, satellite ground segment, and/or system integration, experience in capacity management and/or systems engineering and/or other engineering functions
Advanced knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, IP networking; in addition, in-depth knowledge of VSAT networks and platforms as well as TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols (unicast/multicast, VoIP, IPsec, QoS)
Develop and integrate into operational systems various satellite communications subsystems, including the RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements
Knowledge on the specifications and differences between various satellite frequency bands (L, C, Ku-band, etc.) and the qualities of on each signal band in various applications
Well-developed systems engineering and decision-making skills required, including recognition of critical vs non-critical requirements, ability to present complex issues in clearly written language, ability to use diagrams, tables, or figures to improve the presentation of technical material, and the acumen to ensure key business issues are addressed consistent with the organization's goals and objectives
Prior knowledge or work experience in performing system trade studies, performing requirements analysis, interface management and documentation, and/or development and implementation of verification and validation plans and procedures
Good software skills with prior experience in Windows, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
Ability to analyze complex situations and utilize problem-solving abilities, under pressure
Ability to learn new communications technologies quickly and apply as needed to resolved problems
Ability to understand basic concepts (to include basic grammar concepts), responsible for writing technical copies of various documents types. Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals and technical publications. Gather technical information, prepare written text. Maintain a current internal documentation library. Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to the position; an additional four (4) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience in addition to education level
Must possess current DoD 8570 IAT II and GVF (or equivalent) certifications
Experience working in a DoD or Intelligence Community Environment desired
Current active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
