Job Description & How to Apply Below
This position is open at any U.S. location near a Jacobs office. We intend to hire the best candidate regardless of geography.

About the Role

At Jacobs, we never settle - we push boundaries, elevate standards, and deliver with purpose. As a
** Senior Electrical Engineer and licensed Professional Engineer specializing in telecommunications and ICT infrastructure
** within our Data Center & Hyperscale practice, you will serve as the engineering authority responsible for the design and construction delivery of mission-critical telecommunications systems across hyperscale EPC and Design-Build programs. You will exercise professional engineering judgment and responsible charge for engineered telecommunications infrastructure; sign and seal design packages, field changes, and record documents as PE of record; lead multidisciplinary design coordination and construction-phase engineering;

provide technical direction and oversight of low-voltage subcontractors; manage technical changes and field issues; and lead commissioning and IT-readiness handover.

This role is specifically intended for an
** experienced Electrical Professional Engineer with deep telecommunications engineering expertise and demonstrated responsibility for engineered building and mission-critical facility infrastructure**. It is not an IT, network architecture, telecommunications technician, structured-cabling installation, RCDD-only, or carrier/network deployment position. Candidates whose experience is primarily in telecommunications carriers, broadband or community networks, telephony, OSP fiber deployment, enterprise IT, network solutions architecture, or BICSI-focused installation programs without licensed professional engineering responsibility for complex facility infrastructure will generally not align with the requirements of this role.

The successful candidate will bring substantial engineering experience in
** inside-plant telecommunications and ICT infrastructure**, including structured cabling and high-density fiber systems, telecommunications pathways and spaces, wireless and DAS infrastructure, RF-related systems, security and other low-voltage systems, and their integration with electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines. The position requires the ability to carry engineering responsibility from design development and construction documents through field execution, commissioning, and final turnover.

At Jacobs, the world's No. 1 design firm, you'll lead industry-defining data center and advanced manufacturing projects with global impact.

This job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a JACOBS U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates.

Senior Architectural SME - Data Centers (Advanced Manufacturing)

Jacobs is trusted in designing and deliver some of the world's most complex mission critical facilities. As a leader in advanced manufacturing and hyperscale data center design, we partner with global technology and colocation clients to shape next generation, AI-enabled data centers where resiliency, scalability, sustainability, and precision are essential.

We are seeking a Senior Architectural Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and strategic direction across our U.S. data center portfolio. This role blends deep architectural expertise with client-facing leadership, influencing design strategy, delivery excellence, and technical differentiation on some of the industry's most demanding programs. The opportunity is available nationwide, with flexibility to align to a Jacobs office location.

Required Background

Direct AI, Hyperscale, or Colocation data center telecommunications engineering experience is strongly preferred. Candidates should have experience delivering mission-critical ICT infrastructure through design, construction, commissioning, and handover. Experience gained primarily through telecommunications carriers, broadband providers, wireless network deployments, enterprise IT organizations, structured cabling installation firms, RCDD consulting, or BICSI-based installation programs without engineering design authority and responsibility for mission-critical facility infrastructure is generally not aligned with the requirements of this position.

Candidates with semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex mission-critical facility experience may also be considered.

Key Contributions

Engineering Authority & Design Delivery

* Sign and seal telecommunications design packages, field change directives (FCDs), and as-built drawings as PE of record - with reciprocal licensure maintained in applicable project states.

* Lead detailed ICT infrastructure engineering: structured cabling (OM4/OM5, OS2 fiber, copper horizontal), OSP fiber routing, rack layouts, DAS, CCTV, and access control - meeting BICSI TDMM, ANSI/TIA, and NEC standards.

* Provide technical governance for telecom deliverables…
