Job DescriptionDuties
- You will manage the ship zone DDG 51 design process and apply strict oversight of design activities to ensure compliance with requirements, technical specifications, and operating standards.
- You will direct engineering studies sponsored by the DDG 51 program office.
- You will provide technical and programmatic oversight for the implementation of ship baseline upgrades
- You will review and develop cost estimates and design trade-off analyses in support of leadership decisions and future POM proposals.
- You will coordinate with the Navy's technical community to ensure that solutions to complex engineering challenges are balanced with programmatic constraints such as schedule and cost.
- You will keep abreast of current engineering trends relative to all phases of the acquisition life cycle and initiate action to implement latest developments or innovations into class design.
- You will develop and present technical written and oral reports, assessments, presentations, etc., as required by leadership.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition
Functional Area
and category assigned to the position is required within established category time frames.
Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (or GS-13 equivalent), in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector executing the design process from requirements evaluation through requirements allocation and design trade-offs to design reviews and establish a baseline design. Examples of qualifying experience include:
Identifying resource requirements; leading cross functional teams; executing phases of the design process; establishing and maintaining the design cost and schedule performance of government and contractor teams; and balancing costs, schedule, performance, and requirements for a given system.
