Computer Engineer; Voice Engineer

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

• Designs, implements, and supports enterprise voice and telecommunications systems, including SIP-based VoIP solutions, unified communications platforms, and contact center technologies.
• Develops and maintains cloud and hybrid voice architectures, integrating on-premises systems with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Teams Phone and related services.
• Supports modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy telephony systems to cloud-based voice solutions.
• Coordinates with IS Architects, telecom vendors, cloud service providers (CSP), other systems developers, and functional areas within IRS to ensure information systems are properly integrated into the target architecture and transition plans. Supports acquisition planning and technical evaluations.
• Provides advice and counsel to executive level managers on major IS technical issues.
