IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Manassas, VA to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading designs, and learning the civil engineering trade. Over 10-12 weeks, you will gain hands-on experience supporting real project work.
You will also help the team work within project monetary budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team you would join supports transportation and municipal work and brings a broad Northern Virginia civil practice with experience across data center, industrial, education, survey, ALTA, and SUE work, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do- Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards
- Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment
- Assist with client relations, project design notebook activities, and documentation for permanent record files
- Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
- Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
- Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required by the contract services agreement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations while working within project monetary budgets
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

- May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
- Broad civil practice with a strong Northern Virginia concentration
- Data center, industrial, and logistics site development including Digital Realty and Dulles Logistics Center
- School civil work, entitlement support, and stormwater management across PWCS and area districts
- Survey, ALTA, and SUE capabilities supporting commercial and federal clients
- Recent work includes Digital Realty VA5, Data Center;
Dulles Logistics Center, Industrial; and PWCS Brentsville HS Addition, Education.

State of Virginia Pay Range: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
