Technical Engineering And Operations Manager

This position exists to provide technical engineering and operations management services to Georgetown's Department of Facilities Maintenance while ensuring reliable and cost-effective control of Building Automation Systems including HVAC Controls. The incumbent will monitor the HVAC System energy consumption and performance and provide and implement recommendations to improve mechanical and electrical systems operations. They will actively pursue methods to reduce campus energy usage while maintaining environmental comfort and system performance in buildings.
They will perform technical calculations and analyses to measure assess mechanical system performance. The manager will oversee modification of control designs and operations, as necessary, to improve effectiveness. Efficiency, and reliability. The incumbent will identify and develop energy projects, programs, and initiatives and execute on these projects. They will work as part of an integrated team to implement energy and environmental program requirements and deliver tangible reliability and cost saving results.
They will serve as the technical consultant for applicable design manuals and projects and advise on operations work including Preventive Maintenance Programs and Scheduling of Maintenance. He or she will participate in retro-commissioning efforts and provide input on project commissioning processes and requirements. He or she will lead interactions with controls service providers with regards to construction and installation of new or redesigned systems.
Position reports to the Director of Maintenance for assignments, work direction, and administrative supervision. They will work closely with various campus constituents to provide solutions to complex business problems in their area of responsibility. They will perform division administrative functions as assigned by the Director, including operational reporting, procurement, working with contracts, and responding to human resources management matters.
Requirements and Qualifications
- BS degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or technical degree preferred, additional experience in combination with an Associate's degree is acceptable.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in facilities management, building automation systems, energy management, energy auditing, performance contracting, commissioning, or MEP design for large commercial facilities.
- Minimum four years of experience working with BAS and HVAC systems
- Thorough technical knowledge of energy consuming building systems (e.g., lighting, HVAC, motors, VFDs, controls, chillers, boilers, data centers, electrical distribution, transformers, and batteries).
- Experience participating in ASHRAE energy audits of commercial facilities.
- Thorough technical knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures for critical operations and related systems, including: HVAC, UPS, stand-by generators, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- CEM or LEED AP O&M preferred.
- PMP or completion of a Project Management Program preferred
- Self-motivated, adaptive learner in a changing environment and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate to diverse audiences.
- Strong team player and motivator with ability to foster cooperation and make decisions with groups of government and consulting team members.

Pay Range: $66,783.00 - $
