The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction. Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy's top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces.
Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA's decades of support to the submarine force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition.
Responsibilities This position supports the In-Service Undersea Special Mission Systems Program Office (PMS 390J) which is part of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Team Submarine (TSUB). This role will provide Program Management support to the Undersea Special Mission Systems program office (PMS 390) located at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. PMS 390's mission includes:
Assessment/Underwater Work System (AUWS), Submarine Rescue System-Rescue Capable System (SRS-RCS), and the Submarine Rescue System-Submarine Decompression System (SRS-SDS). They are also responsible for the coordination of R&D initiatives, acquisition, test and evaluation, in-service support, and recommending certification of Dry Deck Shelter (DDS) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) Host Submarine (HOSUB) Systems. This includes responsibility for future SOF Undersea Mobility Systems and technical support for all matters pertaining to SOF Undersea Mobility;
and other projects as directed. This position specifically supports the future advanced SOF maritime capabilities branch. Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Program management support for planning and development of Undersea Special Mission Systems
- Support strategic planning efforts by gathering, organizing, and analyzing data related to program objectives, capability gaps, emerging technologies, and fleet needs.
- Providing program management support to PMS 390J in support of SOCOM, TEAMSUB, and DCS program objectives.
- Coordinating with government stakeholders, contractor teams, technical representatives, logistics personnel, and operational users to support timely information exchange and issue resolution.
- Scheduling, coordinate, and document internal and external program meetings, including agendas, meeting minutes, and action items.
- Facilitate contractor discussions, as directed, and track deliverables, commitments, and follow-up actions to closure.
- Conduct research on innovative solutions, commercial technologies, industry trends, and Navy/DoD modernization initiatives to identify opportunities that align with program priorities.
