Basic Purpose
Assists the Land Department by performing some of the following tasks including boundary records research, land descriptions and exhibits, topographic and as-built maps, and right-of-way and easement maps under the direction of a licensed land surveyor.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcesses and interpret field survey data and apply technical expertise and boundary law principals to create land descriptions and exhibit maps.
Formats survey data into spread sheets, maps, and computer aided drafting (CAD) models depending on individual client requirements.
Performs mathematical calculations to verify validity of field collected data.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Work ExperienceEAC/ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree or a Board approved equivalent and 2 years of related work experience. Must possess a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT).
Candidates that do not have a bachelor’s degree and LSIT must have a minimum of 6 years of related work experience as a Land Technician or similar capacity.
Specialized Knowledge and SkillsDemonstrated knowledge of:
AutoCAD
Global Positioning System (GPS) software and/or other coordinate geometry computer experience.
Public Lands Surveying System.
Demonstrated skills such as:
Organizational, interpersonal and communication.
Setup and operate total stations and GPS equipment.
Equipment and ApplicationsPCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Microsoft Office and Intranet web base research.
Work Environment and Physical DemandsGeneral office environment. Some fieldwork and travel required.
