Project Engineer, Civil Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the Project Construction Manager on the project in Washington, DC through June 2028.

The Project Engineer will work closely with the client as the Owner’s Representative , providing technical guidance and support throughout the planning, procurement, and construction phases. This position will help facilitate informed project decisions by reviewing schedules, cost estimates, design documents, technical submissions, and construction-related activities.

A strong mechanical engineering background is preferred , along with excellent communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
This is a fully on-site position, and an engineering degree is required per the client’s request.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Project Construction Manager throughout the planning, procurement, and construction phases .
• Serve as a technical resource and Owner’s Representative to support informed project decisions.
• Review and update project schedules , monitor progress, and evaluate cost estimates.
• Conduct constructability reviews to identify design conflicts, coordination issues, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform and coordinate technical reviews of design documents, specifications, equipment selections, and material submittals.
• Review contractor proposals, RFIs, and change requests for compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure technical work complies with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and quality requirements .
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, designers, consultants, project managers, and other stakeholders while identifying and supporting the resolution of project risks and issues.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering — REQUIRED.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering, construction, or project management experience.
• Strong experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents .
• Experience with project schedules, cost estimates, and construction planning .
• Experience performing constructability and technical reviews .
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and construction requirements .
• Experience reviewing contractor proposals, RFIs, submittals, and change requests .
• Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills ;
  Mechanical Engineering background preferred .

Physical Demands:

Ability to work in an active construction environment.

Ability to visit and monitor construction activities in the field.

Ability to walk construction areas and observe ongoing work.

Ability to work fully on-site in Washington, DC for the duration of the assignment.
