Mechanical CAD question authoring
You will develop objective, precise, and non-guessable question-and-answer sets from multi-part FreeCAD assemblies. Each answer must be grounded in the design and verifiable from the available technical information.
You will also communicate clearly while clarifying requirements, responding to review feedback, and documenting insights or ambiguities that arise during the authoring process.
- Analyze complex mechanical designs, including geometry and assembly relationships.
- Interpret engineering function and related design information.
- Create several technical questions for each CAD assembly.
- Write clear, technically accurate questions and answers.
- Ensure every answer is objective and verifiable from the design.
- Document ambiguities and useful insights discovered during authoring.
- Communicate technical concepts in writing and verbally.
You should have an extensive background in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or industrial design, together with strong foundational CAD knowledge. Experience analyzing multi-part assemblies and interpreting engineering drawings is required.
Direct FreeCAD experience is valuable, while comparable experience with another CAD platform can also support success. You must be able to turn complex technical concepts into detailed engineering questions and training material.
- Expertise in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or industrial design
- Experience with multi-part CAD assemblies
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings
- Familiarity with FreeCAD or a comparable CAD platform
- Ability to author precise, technically verifiable engineering questions and answers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to technical accuracy and detail
This opportunity may suit a mechanical engineer, aerospace engineer, industrial designer, CAD specialist, or technical consultant who enjoys analyzing designs and explaining how they work. It is a strong fit for someone who can distinguish objective engineering facts from assumptions and express those facts with precision.
English communication is required for the project. The role is available across the countries specified in the listing and offers a substantial part-time commitment for qualified contributors.
