About the Role
Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Mining Engineer to lead operational planning and execution at their facility in George . This role is pivotal in optimizing mining methods, ensuring safety compliance, and driving productivity in a demanding environment. You will be instrumental in translating geological data into actionable mine plans and supervising a team of mining professionals. This is a unique chance to make a substantial impact on operations in the scenic Western Cape , contributing to a company culture that values safety, efficiency, and professional advancement within the mining sector .
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and oversee short-term and long-term mine plans, ensuring alignment with production targets.
- Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and operational risk assessments for new projects and expansions.
- Manage and mentor a team of mining engineers, technicians, and operational staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
- Analyze production data, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Oversee the selection and utilization of mining equipment and technologies to maximize operational effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in open-pit or underground mine operations.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience with mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Mine2-4D, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of mine surveying, ventilation, and ground support systems.
