Chief Financial Officer | Defense Technology | PE-Backed

We're partnering with a high-growth, PE-backed defense technology business based in the US to appoint an experienced Chief Financial Officer.

This is a pivotal leadership role for a commercially astute CFO who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and understands the rigour and value creation demands of private equity ownership.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Board and PE sponsors, you will own the full financial function and play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of the business. Operating in a sector defined by long-term government contracts, complex program economics, and accelerating investment in autonomy, cybersecurity, and advanced electronics, you will bring both financial discipline and commercial vision to a business with genuine momentum.

You will lead all aspects of financial strategy, planning, and reporting while ensuring the business is positioned for scale. You'll partner with the executive team on commercial decisions, manage relationships with lenders and investors, and ensure robust financial controls, including compliance with government contracting requirements such as DCAA, FAR, and DFARS where applicable.

You will be an experienced CFO or senior finance leader with a background in defense technology, government contracting, or adjacent sectors. Critically, you will have operated within a PE-backed environment and understand what it means to deliver against investor timelines and expectations. You ll bring the credibility and gravitas to lead a high-performing finance function while remaining close to the operational detail.

  ISR, cybersecurity, autonomy, or adjacent sectors
• Direct experience within a PE portfolio company or PE-backed business
• Track record in financial transformation, M&A integration, or exit preparation
• Familiarity with government contract accounting and compliance frameworks
• US-based or willing to relocate
