We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Finance & Accounting to lead and scale the financial organization of a high-growth fintech software company based in the Washington DC metro area. This executive will be responsible for financial operations, accounting integrity, regulatory compliance, and financial planning & analysis.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in fintech, payments, or SaaS environments, with a strong command of financial reporting, regulatory frameworks, revenue recognition, and operational finance. This leader will serve as a key strategic partner to the executive team, driving financial performance, investor confidence, and scalable infrastructure to support rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy, growth initiatives, and long-term financial planning.
- Provide financial insight to guide pricing strategy, product profitability, and capital allocation.
- Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Support Board of Directors and investor reporting, including preparation of financial packages and presentations.
- Financial Operations & Accounting
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, treasury, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable fintech regulatory requirements.
- Lead external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
- Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 (SaaS and subscription models).
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations applicable to fintech operations (e.g., money transmission, payments compliance, PCI-DSS as applicable).
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks.
- Oversee tax strategy and compliance across jurisdictions.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Develop financial models supporting ARR growth, customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), churn, and unit economics.
- Drive KPI tracking and financial dashboards for executive leadership.
- Lead cash flow forecasting and capital planning.
- Partner with sales and operations to align forecasts with business performance.
- Prepare financial materials for due diligence and transaction processes (M&A or capital raises).
- Develop scalable systems, processes, and financial infrastructure to support rapid growth.
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and ERP solutions as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA required
- 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Prior experience in fintech, payments, banking technology, or SaaS environments required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial controls.
- Experience managing audits, regulatory compliance, and multi-entity financial structures.
- Demonstrated experience in high-growth, venture-backed, or private equity-backed environments preferred.
- Proven ability to lead teams and scale financial operations.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
