Our great non-profit client is seeking a VP of Finance and Accounting to join its team.

The VP of Finance and Accounting will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for the

direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions of the organization. Primary

responsibilities include supervision of the monthly close process, restricted grants, accounts

receivable, accounts payable, payroll and management of the audit and tax process. The VP

of Finance and Accounting will ensure the organization has the financial reporting, systems,

controls and procedures in place to support effective organizational management and

operations. The VP of Finance and Accounting will work closely with program leaders and their

staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures, but also to

explore how the finance function can proactively support program operations. This individual is

a key member of the leadership team and will actively participate in the management and

strategy of the business.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Subject matter expert in Accounting and Finance. Oversee all aspects of the AP, AR, payroll functions.
  • Serve as a strong business partner, providing financial insight, guidance and assistance to the CEO and department leaders.
  • Prepare, provide analysis, and approve all financial statements in a timely manner for all constituents (internal management, Board of Directors, lenders, and auditors). These include, but are not limited to, the income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows. Ensure organization’s internal accounting and administrative controls adhere to Generally Accepted Account Principals (GAAP), as well as internal organization policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reporting materials and metrics. Prepare financial analyses as needed to facilitate business decision-making. Work with others to gather information for analysis and gain understanding of business issues.
  • Manage and develop accounting staff.
  • Coordinate all audit and tax activities.
  • Partners with the CFO on operational and strategic issues as they arise provide strategic recommendations to the CFO.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA required.
  • 7-10+ years of accounting experience, including leadership experience, preferably with a nonprofit.
  • Experience with Net Suite required with ability to own system maintenance and improvements.
  • Experience with inventory management, warehousing, and distribution a plus.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Technologically savvy. Experience with Net Suite, Salesforce would be a plus.
  • Good people skills, with experience, collaborating in a team environment and the ability to identify the current and future needs of the Accounting/Finance team. Ability to develop the strengths of the current finance team members.
