Overview

Corporate Controller | Montgomery County, MD

Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a growing HVAC services company. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, job cost accounting, cash flow management, and internal controls while partnering closely with ownership to support strategic growth.

This is a leadership position requiring both strong technical accounting expertise and operational insight within a project-based environment.

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and revenue recognition
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Develop and maintain financial reporting packages for ownership

Job Cost & Project Accounting

• Oversee job cost tracking and WIP reporting
• Monitor project profitability, margin analysis, and cost controls
• Ensure accurate percentage-of-completion accounting where applicable

Cash Flow & Treasury

• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
• Oversee banking relationships and credit facilities
• Monitor collections and AR aging

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead annual budgeting process
• Provide monthly forecast updates and variance analysis
• Deliver actionable financial insights to improve operational performance

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Establish and maintain internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax regulations
• Coordinate with external CPA firm on audits and tax filings
• Improve systems, processes, and reporting efficiency

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in HVAC, construction, mechanical contracting, or project-based services strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and WIP schedules
• Experience with accounting systems like Vista or similar relevant systems
• Proven leadership and ability to operate in a hands-on environment
