Overview:

Aalis Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Skill Bridge Military Officer specializing in Budget and Financial Management for a three-month remote consulting role. The ideal candidate has served at three or more duty stations, acquiring significant expertise in Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) in financial analysis, resource allocation, and fiscal planning within the armed forces. This individual must demonstrate a proven ability to build and leverage budget connections to strengthen financial strategy and operations.

The role offers an engaging and challenging project environment.

  • Must be active-duty military and transitioning (separating or retiring)
  • Must be within the final 180 days of service at the start of the program
  • Command approval required
  • Must be eligible for and approved under the DoD Skill Bridge program
  • No civilian pay during Skill Bridge (military pay/benefits continue)
  • Must be able to start in April or May

Not eligible: veterans already separated, reservists not on active duty, or anyone outside the 180-day window.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead financial planning, budget development, and execution across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational priorities.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, budget forecasting, and performance evaluations; prepare and present reports with recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Assess resource needs and allocate financial resources effectively to maximize mission success across tactical and operational settings.
  • Develop and leverage relationships with military and civilian stakeholders to support budgeting requirements and connect with new financial partners.
  • Provide expert advice on financial strategies, long-term fiscal planning, and budgeting policies to optimize operations and resource utilization.
Qualifications &

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • Commissioned Military Officer (O5 or O6) with experience spanning three or more duty stations in budget and financial management.
  • Proven expertise in financial analysis, resource allocation, and fiscal planning that directly supports operational and organizational goals.
  • Familiarity with military budgeting systems, financial policies, and procurement processes, ensuring compliant fiscal management.
  • Experience cultivating financial stakeholder relationships and managing budget-related networks to support adequate funding and resource decisions.
  • Leadership experience overseeing financial operations and teams, with a focus on accountability, process improvement, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply budget and financial management skills in tactical, operational, and administrative environments, facilitating a smooth transition to civilian consulting through the Skill Bridge program.
Required Skills:
  • Practical experience applying military budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation to meet operational and strategic objectives.
  • Proven ability to establish and utilize budget-related relationships within military and civilian sectors to support funding alignment and mission success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex financial information for senior military leaders and civilian partners.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to address financial and operational challenges, providing actionable and mission-focused recommendations.
  • Effective collaborator experienced in working with cross-functional, joint, or hybrid military-civilian teams, supporting professional transition through Skill Bridge.
Highly Preferred:
  • Experience working in multiple positions in the National Capital Region (NCR)
