Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting
The firm is actively seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the finance department. This position reports to the Manager of Financial Analysis & Automation and will work closely with department heads and other administrative managers to understand analytical needs and deliver high quality financial analysis.
This position is available as a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and present data analysis for various meetings held throughout the year for the Board of Directors, Partners, and Department Heads. Focus of these presentations vary and each requires thoughtful analysis of the topics of concern
- Develop Power BI and financial reports and manage functionality once they are in production
- Strategic ad-hoc analysis at the timekeeper, matter, and client levels for various Department Heads, Chiefs, and Senior Managers to highlight financial strengths and weaknesses
- Prepare annual and quarterly industry surveys which track financial performance
- Ownership of annual budget process for various departments. This includes variance tracking and communicating deviations or outliers to departments heads
- Proactively recommend and manage the implementation of process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting, planning processes, and systems
- Perform related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor from time to time
- Maintain compliance with all firm policies and procedures
- Proactively analyze the financial performance of Partners’ client, matters and overall practice
- Provide Partners with guidance on enhancing the economic performance of their practices
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of relevant experience in budgeting, financial planning, analysis, or pricing
- Possess a strong ability to work successfully across multiple functional teams in the firm
- Knowledge of legal industry financial practices is a plus, but not required
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office – Excel, Power Point, Word
- Proficiency in Power BI and Power Apps is a plus
- Solid technical, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to present and communicate financial information in a meaningful and understandable way
- Strong desire to learn and ask questions
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:
Palo Alto, New York, San Francisco: $102,000 – $138,000 per year.
Austin, Boston, Boulder, Century City, Delaware, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle, Washington, D.C.: $91,800 – $124,200 per year.
The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
