The Operations Lead plays a critical role in prioritizing work, analyzing processes, identifying gaps, and driving continuous improvement through customized training and mentoring. This position also serves as a proxy for the Regional Manager when needed and may provide temporary managerial or senior-level functional support during periods of increased workload or staffing gaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for legal billing support to Corporate Practice Group Partners in the Austin office
- Manage full-cycle billing for complex U.S. and global client accounts, including high-volume and high-fee portfolios
- Review billing data for accuracy and compliance with client and firm requirements
- Research and resolve electronic billing rejections and service desk tickets
- Prepare, analyze, and present detailed billing reports and financial data to attorneys and support staff
- Coordinate global unified billing, including accruals, forecasting, LEDES file generation, and international collaboration
- Analyze billing processes and systems, develop metrics, build business cases, and recommend efficiency improvements
- Maintain and update detailed client billing requirements and guidelines
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Legal Support Services, IT, and international finance teams
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure consistent billing practices across the team
- Serve as a point of escalation and provide coaching, mentoring, and quality oversight for junior billing staff
- Provide temporary managerial support in the absence of the Regional Manager
- 5+ years of senior-level legal billing experience at a major law firm
- Advanced experience with Aderant, Bill Blast, and e-billing platforms (e-Hub, LEDES)
- Expert knowledge of domestic, global, and electronic billing processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
$100K-$150K (Salary based upon experience)
