Job Description

The Tax Managing Director, Transfer Pricing collaborates with Principals to lead the national TP practice toward becoming the pre‑eminent Transfer Pricing Practice in the U.S. This senior leader will build and maintain strong client relationships, develop and implement practical transfer pricing solutions, and guide a team from Associate to Director level.

Transfer Pricing Consulting and Compliance Services
  • Develop, recommend, and implement appropriate transfer pricing methods and client‑specific solutions.
  • Apply transfer pricing regulations and identify transaction‑specific issues when analyzing client data.
  • Determine and propose efficient strategies to achieve transfer pricing compliance within the client’s risk profile.
  • Manage the holistic transfer pricing ecosystem (planning, compliance, operational, defense) across client relationships.
Client Engagement
  • Ensure clients are aware of and compliant with local transfer pricing requirements.
  • Manage team and engagement economics to achieve targeted project metrics, including set‑up and billing.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality‑control and risk‑management processes on all engagements.
Tax Controversy
  • Advise and represent clients on contested issues with tax authorities and respond to information requests.
  • Analyze, document, and defend the position while considering broader tax ramifications.
Tax Provisions
  • Employ general principles in tax accounting and understand transfer pricing in tax provisions.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions related to transfer pricing.
  • Partner with Assurance professionals to plan tax accrual reviews.
Research and Analytics
  • Complete financial and economic analysis of intercompany transactions.
  • Identify research scope and frame issues for tax‑research comparability.
Business Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel and identify new business opportunities.
  • Represent the firm as a primary contact for transfer pricing engagements.
  • Identify cross‑selling opportunities for other consulting specialties.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise day‑to‑day workload of TP Managers and Associates, review and take responsibility for final work product.
  • Ensure TP Managers and Associates are trained in transfer pricing principles and relevant databases.
  • Evaluate performance and deliver timely feedback.
  • Serve as a career advisor and assist in professional development.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics (required).
  • Advanced degree in Economics, Business, Law, or Finance (preferred).
Experience
  • Ten (10) or more years of transfer pricing experience (required).
  • Experience with in a transfer pricing advisory practice (preferred).
License / Certifications
  • One or more of: MBA, CPA, CFA, JD, or EA (preferred).
Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Familiarity with Access, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, or other data analytics/visualization tools.
  • Prior exposure to Go Systems, tax and economic‑research databases, or other tax‑related software.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical and research skills, including data‑driven solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to multitask in a deadline‑driven environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Effective delegation and team encouragement.
  • Knowledge of tax filing sources and common filing forms.
  • Understanding of practical taxation issues and opportunities.
  • Understanding of taxable conditions and potential tax issues.
Compensation

National Range: $157,500 – $420,000
Maryland Range: $157,500 – $420,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $157,500 – $420,000
Washington DC Range: $157,500 – $420,000
