ASSISTANT CONTROLLER (HYBRID –WASHINGTON, DC)

The Assistant Controller will have primary responsibility for managing the US and European monthly and year-end financial processes, including the annual audit and tax process. This role will involve directing the General Ledger and Accounts Payable teams, implementing new accounting principles, and ensuring revenue recognition accuracy. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will oversee the maintenance of the chart of accounts, manage the firm’s treasury function, and implement financial internal controls to protect the company’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.

- Direct the activities of the General Ledger and Accounts Payable teams ensuring accounting accuracy and timely dissemination of financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external financial statements.
- Research and implement new US accounting principles as issued.
- Manage and ensure the accuracy of European statutory accounting and financial reporting.
- Ensure proper revenue recognition with US GAAP & International accounting standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of the chart of accounts and oversee the implementation of foreign currencies in accounting system.
- Oversee the annual US and European audits and implement agreed-upon recommendations resulting from the audit findings.
- 12+ years of experience that demonstrates increasing capability and responsibility; professional services experience preferred.
- The desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and the firm.
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to learn the firm’s financial and operational functions.
- The mindset to provide superior service.
- International accounting experience required.
- Strong understanding of accrual and cash accounting.
- Superior working knowledge of MS Office required.
- Sub-chapter S corporation accounting experience preferred.
- Active licensure as a CPA required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; MBA or Master’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
Cornerstone Research is offering a competitive market base salary for this position. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in all eligible locations. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Cornerstone Research, we believe compensation is more than just a base salary. We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes an annual performance bonus and comprehensive benefits such as flexible options for healthcare, paid time off, and retirement savings.
Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
Washington, DC: $124,600 – $170,300
