Private Equity Associate – Energy & Infrastructure Investments

Location:
Washington, DC

A leading global alternative investment firm is seeking an Associate to join its investment team in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating, executing, and managing investments across the energy, infrastructure, power & utilities, oil & gas, and energy transition sectors.

This role offers significant exposure to complex transactions, investment underwriting, portfolio management, and interaction with senior investment professionals. The Associate will work across both debt and equity investments, with a particular focus on infrastructure, energy, and structured capital opportunities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Evaluating and executing investment opportunities across energy and infrastructure-related sectors.
  • Building detailed financial models and valuation analyses.
  • Conducting commercial, financial, and operational due diligence.
  • Analyzing project finance structures, capital solutions, and complex transaction opportunities.
  • Preparing investment committee materials and supporting transaction execution.
  • Monitoring portfolio investments and assisting with ongoing asset management initiatives.
Ideal candidates will have:
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, project finance, structured credit, or a related investment role.
  • Transaction experience within energy, power & utilities, infrastructure, industrials, natural resources, oil & gas, or energy transition sectors.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Experience evaluating both debt and equity investment opportunities.
  • Familiarity with project finance, structured capital, or infrastructure-related transactions is highly desirable.
  • A strong academic background and a demonstrated interest in energy and infrastructure investing.

The team is particularly interested in candidates from leading investment banking, infrastructure, project finance, energy-focused private equity, or specialist credit platforms who are seeking a highly analytical and transaction-oriented investment role with substantial responsibility and exposure.

Washington, DC-based candidates are preferred. Candidates willing to relocate to the area within a reasonable timeframe will also be considered.
