I. MAJOR/

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

As part of this small but critical team, the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager’s responsibilities will include providing financial insights, suggestions and projections to the CEO, CFO and lines of business directors. The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will provide reliable data and analysis to be used in critical decision-making and planning. In addition, the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager has responsibility for daily cash management, cash forecasting, and investment management and reporting, budget analyses, development of KPIs and payroll processing.

Additionally, the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager assists the Sr Director – Budget & Treasury with the annual budgeting process for all NASW entities and provides support with on-going financial analysis and budget variance analysis to the national office and chapters.

II. BASIC

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop models and create processes from scratch, including suggestions to revamp/automate processes.
  • Identify and understand business challenges; propose and create solutions.
  • Partner directly with the Accounting and Finance teams and various business unit teams to collaborate on metrics, goals, and business reviews.
  • Dive deeply into financial data and become a subject matter expert to provide additional insights.
  • Work on corporate projects that are focused on business growth, opportunities, and expense mitigation.
  • Create presentations that provide insightful analyses, identify the required action items, and effectively frame decisions to be made.

Cash Management

  • Monitors cash inflows and outflows, performing daily analysis and review of bank accounts, analyzing prior day activity and determining cash position.
  • Prepares the daily cash report, providing an executive-level summary to senior officials including the forecasting of short-term and mid-term cash requirements.
  • Initiates the movement of funds as required, through payment of intracompany collectibles or through the reallocation of cash and investment holdings

Treasury Management and Banking Administration

  • Serves as primary administrator of NASW’s online treasury functions and payment tools, ensuring that appropriate security and controls are observed.
  • Participates in the management of banking and related vendor relationships including the monitoring and re-negotiating of lock box, bank fees and other related vendor charges.
  • Monitors banking and related vendor process flows to ensure processes are optimized for efficiency at reasonably low cost, that the bank account structure is appropriate to meet NASW needs, that proper security and controls are in place, and that proper documentation of workflow and approval processes to establish strong internal accounting control requirements, that would meet the expectations of stakeholders and external auditors.

Investment Management

  • Analyzes account statements for accuracy.
  • Participates in due diligence meetings with investment managers.
  • Provides analysis and reports to management as needed.
  • Monitors the investment program management to ensure that it meets the requirements of the investment policy statement.

Technology Selection, Maintenance and Administration

  • Serves as technical expert for treasury and cash management systems and tools utilized by NASW.
  • Documents policies and procedures as they change including data sources, analysis methods and protocols.

Budget

  • Assists the Sr Director – Budget & Treasury in the preparation of the annual budgets for all NASW entities, including the national office, the chapters, the NASW Foundation, PACE, and LDF.
