The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure, and open environment.
ResponsibilitiesThe Threat Interdiction Group Emergency Response (TIGER) Team is located within the Special Operations Division, Operational Services Bureau.
All members of TIGER should be highly trained and able to provide plainclothes police response to both high‑risk/low‑frequency events as well as low‑risk/high‑frequency events. Plainclothes TIGER units provide an unobtrusive presence while interacting with the community and completing their objectives, such as:
- subject observation and interdiction
- crisis intervention and negotiation
- immediate threat detection and mitigation
- fostering trust and cooperation within the local community
Note:
Multiple vacancies exist. The number of positions will be determined by the needs of the Department. The selection list will be active for a period of one (1) year from the date of approval of the selection memorandum unless an applicant withdraws in writing.
