Overview

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Responsibilities

This position is located in the Property Asset Management Division, Office of Logistical Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, United States Capitol Police (USCP).

  • Contributes to the resolutions of assigned high priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems. Serves as facilitator for contact with supply chain management customers. Direct item distribution to storage locations, field supply support activities and customers.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services. Conduct research and studies for proactive purchases, and develop a plan of action to collect facts and information required to formulate new concepts. Provide technical assistance within areas of logistics planning, logistics integration, support and requirements. Determine current and future supply requirements through detailed analysis of logistics operations.
  • Review work in progress and prepare reports as required upon completion of project. Serve as representative on customer projects and work groups designed to improve joint processes. Develop comprehensive logistics support plans and improve overall customer readiness.

Requirements

You must be a U.S. citizen. Successful completion of a background investigation is required. Must complete a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

For the CP-07 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-06/GS-8 level that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes:

  • Ability to implement recommendations requiring significant changes in business operations and ensure integration with ongoing initiatives;
  • Knowledge of evaluation and measurement techniques to ensure attainment of higher command goals for assigned systems and programs;
  • Knowledge of logistical support, incident management, mobilization, interagency coordination and resource allocation.
