Job Description- Process and document FOIA and Privacy Act (PA) requests to the organization's records, coordinating with both record submitters and requesters to clarify requests and make release determinations.
- Coordinate with various program offices to facilitate and conduct thorough searches for responsive documents.
- Interpret federal regulations, agency enforcement codes, and organizational policies regarding the release of agency documents.
- Prepare and review sensitive documents in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA).
- Apply precise red actions to sensitive materials using FOIAXpress to prevent the disclosure of personal identifiers, trade secrets, or other information exempted under applicable federal statutes.
- Review completed requests for the appropriateness of materials to be or not to be released, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Compose formal response letters, clarify requests, negotiate additional response times, and make professional recommendations on fees and fee waivers.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Interim Secret Clearance
- Ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and adjust to established work patterns and processes as required.
- Three to five years of experience in FOIA related work.
- Knowledge and proficiency in FOIA Xpress, Microsoft Office Suite, and the application of FOIA exemptions and PA statutes.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills, reading comprehension, and attention to detail.
- Possess exceptional communication skills (both oral and written)
- Experience with document and quality control standards, and in drafting correspondence.
