The DC Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice (DMPSJ) is looking for a dynamic policy professional to help shape the laws and strategies that support public safety and justice across the District. If you excel at turning complex issues into clear, actionable policy, this role puts you at the heart of DC’s legislative landscape.
What You’ll Do:- Draft rules, policies, and legislation that advance District priorities
- Monitor and analyze Council and Congressional activity
- Develop legislative strategies with senior leadership
- Prepare testimonies, reports, statements, and other written materials
- Coordinate interagency review of legislative proposals
- Evaluate the impact of proposed laws and regulations
- Build strong relationships with program leaders to stay aligned with operational needs
- Track key political, economic, and administrative issues affecting DMPSJ
