This position is part of the Energy Information Administration, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Economist, you will provide team leadership, technical analysis, and senior level economic expertise and analytical advice on a broad range of professional economic work such as rendering advice and services with respect to highly complex economic questions, regulations, and policies.

BASIC REQUIREMENT

A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the education requirement you must also meet the experience requirement below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS‑14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 3 of the following:

  • Providing analyses and advice to internal and external officials on a variety of issues including economic and policy positions on complex matters that have an impact on the agency's mission.
  • Assessing the quality of results and organizational support for the activities of economics study necessary to create and maintain professionalism and efficacy in the economic field.
  • Reviewing legislation and regulatory activities related to the industry and assessing the impact on missions, programs, or policies.
  • 'Experience' refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and Ameri Corps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
