Solid Waste Equipment Operator II

The City of Brentwood, the only municipal solid waste collector in the county, is seeking an individual with a Class A or B license to safely operate refuse collection vehicles to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling within a prescribed time. Other responsibilities include unloading refuse trucks at a transfer station, or similar facility, providing an extremely high level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of operation to the general public and customers, exhibiting a positive attitude towards customers and co‑workers alike and performing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection and cleaning, as well as performing other related work as assigned.

This recruitment is being conducted to fill a current full‑time, benefited vacancy. However, the eligible list established from this process may also be used to fill future at‑will, part‑time, or temporary non‑benefited positions as they become available.

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
• Two (2) years of experience in solid waste and recycling collection and disposal including equipment operation and maintenance work; experience equivalent to a Solid Waste Equipment Operator I with the City of Brentwood.

• Possession of a valid Class B California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record to be maintained throughout employment.
