We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Washington D.C. for a Sr. Director Legislative Counsel on our Advocacy team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Washington, DC office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
As a Sr. Director Legislative Counsel, you will serve as a subject matter expert and ensure AMA legal compliance with the Lobbying Compliance Act . Overseestrategicprojectsthatprovidelegislative, regulatory, and legal advice, counsel, and advocacy for the AMA on major substantiveissuestaskedto
Government Affairs,the Division,the Councilon Legislation, and other AMA business units.
- Provide executive leadership and direction for the developmentofstrategicadvocacymaterials,includingtestimony,formalletters, talking points, and other documents.

- Direct and provide political, legislative, and regulatory guidance to Government Affairs staff in developing and writing

- Ensuretimelyresponsestoinquiriesfrom Congress,physicianmembers,the Federation,andother organizations on AMA policy on health-related legislative issues of interest to the AMA
- Overseetheteamanalyzingandproviding
AMAcommentsonproposedregulations,in collaboration with the Senior Director, Division of Federal Affairs - Accountable for the timely and compliant submission of formalcommentstobesubmittedwithindeadlinesprescribedbythe Federal Register on such regulations
- Overseestaffinprovidingfederallegislativeandregulatorysupporttothe Federationthrough development of advocacy and other materials
- Respondtolegislativeandregulatoryinquiriesfrom Federation members
- Ensure
AMAlegalcompliancewiththe Lobbying Disclosure Act ,workingincollaborationwiththe Office of General Counsel, when necessary - Provide general direction, development, implementation, and monitoring of the AMA LDA Compliance Program;ensurethatall
AMAregisteredlobbyistsareincompliancewiththe
LDA. - Collaborate with Financetoregularlyreviewandensurecompliancewiththe Lobbying Disclosure Act and Internal Revenue Code
- Supervisethedevelopmentandfilingofquarterlyandsemi-annual
