The Atlantic Council is seeking a talented, dynamic, and motivated Program Assistant for the Atlantic Council Turkey Program. Working under the Atlantic Council Turkey Senior Director and Deputy Director, the Program Assistant will assist in executing the Turkey Program’s activities. The Program Assistant will also lead coordination on the Program’s activities in Washington, D.C., assist with publications and editorial work, conduct research, track news and developments within the scope of the program, and draft concepts.
The successful candidate will communicate effectively, think critically and thrive in a fast-paced environment within a small team and managing a variety of tasks and roles simultaneously. The candidate must be discreet, engaging, analytical, exceptionally organized, and have a demonstrated interest in Turkey and US-Turkey relations.
The successful candidate for this position should be committed to the Atlantic Council’s core mission to revitalize the Atlantic community’s capability to face global challenges and Atlantic Council Turkey Program’s commitment to promote dialogue and strengthen transatlantic engagement with the region and foster US-Turkey relations.
This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $55,000 to $55,000. Applications submitted by February 27, 2026, will be prioritized for consideration.
Job Responsibilities- Lead coordination for the Turkey’s Program’s events in Washington, DC and support programming globally.
- Draft and/or edit program publications, event concepts, background research and more.
- Follow conferences and discussions on topics related to our work.
- Help manage the senior director’s calendar.
- Periodically contribute articles on topics under the scope of the program.
- Help manage the program’s digital communications and social media.
- Help with program’s research and support program’s fundraising efforts in the United States.
- Bachelors’ degree or higher in political science, international relations, economics, history, area studies, or other relevant fields.
- 2-3 years of work experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of US, Turkish and regional politics and foreign policy.
- Organization skills and experience in event management.
- Excellent writing, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in long-form writing and editing.
- International experience and experience working in multi-cultural environment a plus.
