Respiratory Therapist
We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide advanced respiratory care services in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will be skilled in managing ventilatory support, administering inhaled nitric oxide, and performing airway clearance therapies, among other critical care responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Provide routine and intensive respiratory therapy to patients in ICUs and general floors.
- Manage ventilator settings and troubleshoot mechanical ventilator equipment.
- Administer inhaled nitric oxide and other advanced therapies.
- Perform airway clearance therapies using established protocols.
- Assist with emergency response and disaster preparedness.
- Assist with post‑surgical ventilator weaning for various surgeries including open heart and liver transplant.
- Maintain and stock respiratory equipment, ensuring availability and operability.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Communicate patient status and care plans clearly to physicians, nurses, and families.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills and customer service abilities.
- Adjust priorities based on changing clinical demands.
- Minimum 0–1 year experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.
- Graduated from an approved two‑year respiratory therapy program.
- Licensed by the District of Columbia Health Regulation and registered as RRT or CRT (registration within one year).
- Certification by NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- BLS Basic Life Support and ACLS/PALS within six months of hire.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a high‑pressure team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
