General Summary of Position

Med Star Health is looking for a PRN Speech Language Therapist to join our team at Med Star Georgetown University Hospital!

As a PRN Speech Language Therapist, you will provide a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services for patients with speech-language and/or swallowing disorders. Test, evaluate, plan, and develop appropriate therapy modalities based on the patient’s individual ability/disability. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Med Star Georgetown’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Duties:
  • Provides direct speech, language, and swallowing evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of functioning, setting appropriate goals and making appropriate discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Provides direct SLP treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Utilizes appropriate documentation forms and abides by PM&R's documentation standards. Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborates with physicians, patients, family and other members of health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
  • Maintains CEUs per state requirements for continued professional competency. Adheres to all Department of Health and Joint Commission regulations with regards to the physical environment and patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • DLSP (Licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist) in the District of Columbia.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • 1–2 years related clinical practice experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility.

This position has a hiring range of $35.68 - $64.71.
