The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, an independent non-profit academic clinical practice group affiliated with The George Washington University, is seeking a Radiologic (X-Ray) Technician full-time for our GW Orthopaedic Surgery staff to be a part of collaborative, team-based community practice.
Independently performs diagnostic X-ray examinations on all patient populations and care settings, including administering oral contrast materials when appropriate. Works collaboratively with other care team members to expedite patients’ examinations while maintaining excellent patient relations and demonstrating our Values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Obtaining quality images using correct positions, markers, and exposure.
- Implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
- Understand how to process images using CR and archiving images through PACS.
- Handling physician requests in a timely manner.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Prepares patients for examination by triaging and reporting patient history summary. Will aid front desk in patient check in.
- Facilitates a smooth and efficient operation of the clinical department by monitoring patient flow and decreasing wait times.
Education
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A valid and current ARRT certification.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as an X-Ray Technician.
- Basic PC skills, including RIS/PACS experience.
- Walk, stand, and reach outward on a constant basis in a clinical setting.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs. as part of the role.
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
