Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details- Location: Washington, DC 20007 (DC nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (travel nursing contract)
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / IMC (ED Boarder Unit)
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Scrubs: Any color
- Parking: Available (cost applies)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,820 per week
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or IMC experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
- Active DC RN license (pending accepted with proof at submission; must be in hand before start)
- Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for cardiac nursing jobs) - Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- Willingness to care for COVID-19 patients
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two supervisor references required
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the ED Boarder/IMC unit awaiting inpatient placement
- Monitor and manage cardiac and telemetry patients, including dysrhythmia interpretation
- Administer IV therapies, insulin drips, heparin protocols, and manage feeding tubes
- Care for patients with renal failure, including pre/post hemodialysis management
- Perform phlebotomy, start and maintain IVs, and manage central/PICC lines
- Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures
- Document patient care using Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
- Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
