The Transfer Coordination Specialist (TCS) serves as the highly visible and critical role within the communications center, a 24/7 function that provides rapid and efficient transport and coordination of emergency patient referrals.
Primary Responsibilities- Ensuring high-level customer service to all clients, both internal and external, throughout the patient referral process.
- Receiving, documenting, and communicating time-sensitive clinical data from a multitude of sources.
- Coordinating complex ground and air transport logistics and internal response teams for medical emergencies.
- Continuously monitoring regional and Federal emergency medical communications systems; receiving and transmitting emergency and urgent information via radio and telephone utilizing multiple computer systems to track, document, and facilitate these activities.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required) And Prior completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician
- Basic (EMT-B) program. (Required)
- 1 year At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas: customer service, call center, hospital transfer center/patient flow, healthcare facility clerical/administrative staff, EMS, or public safety dispatch. (Clinical experience obtained during initial EMT-B training will be considered.) (Required)
- 1 year EMT-B field experience. (Preferred)
- 1 year Experience with health information technology (ex. EMR, patient registration) and/or computer-aided dispatch systems is a plus. (Preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows based computer applications.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Active EMT or Paramedic certification is required (state or NREMT). Upon Hire (Required)
- Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Employment is contingent upon DC EMT or Paramedic within 6 months of hire and maintaining this certification continuously. 180 Days (Required)
