The Data Analyst supports rigorous health policy research and quantitative analyses that inform evidence-based strategy, business decisions, and policy insights within Healthsperien’s Center for Health Research, Policy & Strategy (CHRPS). This role focuses on hands‑on data analysis and analytic support across a wide range of data sources—including public, private, and client‑provided datasets spanning public health, administrative claims, and clinical data.
The Data Analyst works closely with senior analytic and policy staff to translate research, policy, and business questions into well‑structured datasets, analytic outputs, and compelling visualizations. This position is well‑suited for candidates seeking to deepen their experience in applied health policy research and data analysis within a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytic skills, comfort working with diverse and complex datasets, and a desire to grow technical and subject‑matter expertise under the guidance of senior research staff.
Compensation: $71,000 - $91,000 (annual base). Final compensation will be commensurate with education and experience. Healthsperien offers a flexible work environment and competitive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities- Support quantitative and qualitative research on health policy topics including Medicare and Medicaid policy, prescription drug policy, health care workforce development, care delivery, health access, and quality improvement.
- Collaborate with project teams to support timely and high‑quality analytic deliverables.
- Conduct literature reviews, policy scans, and background research to inform analytic design, contextualize findings, and support interpretation.
- Translate policy, research, and business questions into structured analytic approaches using diverse data sources, including public datasets, administrative claims, clinical data, survey data, and client‑provided files.
- Participate in the development and refinement of standard analytic plans, processes, and tools.
- Clean, merge, validate, and manage large and complex datasets; document analytic decisions, assumptions, and data transformations.
- Conduct data quality assessments and contribute to validation and replication of analytic outputs.
- Develop clear and compelling tables, charts, dashboards, and written summaries to communicate analytic findings to internal teams and external clients.
- Maintain organized documentation and decision logs to support transparency, reproducibility, and knowledge sharing.
- Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred in economics, public policy, statistics, data science, public health, or a related field. - 2–5 years of experience in health care analytics, health policy research, or a related analytic role.
- Demonstrated capacity analyzing large datasets and translating findings into clear, actionable insights through written summaries and effective data visualizations (e.g., charts, graphs, and tables).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, including data manipulation and analytic summaries.
- Experience with at least one data or statistical programming language in a professional context (e.g., R, Python, SAS, Stata, SQL).
- Experience working with Medicare and/or Medicaid administrative claims data preferred.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
