Compliance Analyst
Location: Howard University Hospital – Washington, DC

Role Summary

Howard University Hospital seeks a detail-oriented and mission-driven Compliance Analyst to support and strengthen our Compliance Program. In this role, you will conduct audits and investigations, develop and implement compliance policies, deliver training, and help ensure adherence to federal and state healthcare regulations. You will collaborate across departments to promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and regulatory excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct compliance audits, reviews, and investigations; recommend corrective actions and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and revise compliance policies and collaborate with leadership to implement entity-level compliance standards.
  • Research healthcare laws and regulations; identify compliance gaps and recommend education initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs.
  • Operationalize compliance-related recommendations from internal and external audits in collaboration with management.
  • Monitor regulatory trends, enforcement activity, and internal data to proactively identify risk areas.
  • Maintain working knowledge of HIPAA, billing and coding regulations, physician compensation arrangements, EMTALA, and other healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold HIPAA privacy standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in healthcare, compliance, regulatory, investigations, research or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare compliance practices in hospital or physician practice settings.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong investigative and interview skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.

Preferred:

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and/or Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC).
  • Post-graduate degree in law, business, or healthcare administration.

Pay + Schedule

Salary Range: $67,482 – $107,971 annually
Pay Grade: HA2-16
FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Primarily daytime hours; evenings, weekends, and holidays as operationally required.
