Position Summary
The Senior Advisor, Kansas CCBHC-T will play a crucial role in supporting clinic-level efforts in Kansas to advance the transformation of care through the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model. This position will serve as a contracted member of the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas (ACMHCK), while regularly partnering with the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) staff and reporting to the Commissioner for Behavioral Health Services s position will lead transformation efforts to further the state's Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) program.
This position requires a highly skilled individual with a proven record of effectively managing project planning and execution, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and delivering high-quality results.
Kansas is one of three states selected to participate in a three-year, multistate pilot program that will provide critical training and technical assistance (TTA) support to states and clinics to advance the vision and impact of the CCBHC model. CCBHCs provide mental health and substance use services to anyone who walks through the door, regardless of a person's ability to pay.
Through their documented ability to improve access to mental health care, lifesaving substance use treatment, recovery supports, crisis services, integrated care and other services, CCBHCs are eliminating barriers to care for people in hundreds of communities. This role will serve as a core member of the program implementation team and lead priority initiatives of the state roadmap and implementation plan.
This is an individual contributor role without any direct reports.
Residence within Kansas is preferred, although the position can be done remotely from anywhere in state. You may also occasionally travel to Topeka, KS or other cities throughout the state as needed. Business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
- Provide strategic leadership for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of training and technical assistance (TTA) to behavioral health providers across Kansas.
- Lead statewide efforts to strengthen clinic capacity, improve access and quality of care, and advance system transformation initiatives aligned with state priorities, particularly the CCBHC-T program state roadmap and initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted partner across state agencies, clinic leadership, and cross-sector stakeholders, leading efforts to translate policy and strategy into practical, clinic-level supports, working alongside the state designated contractor for the CCBHC-T project.
- Oversee and contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality trainings, learning collaboratives, and individualized technical assistance for behavioral health clinics.
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance regarding the state's technical assistance strategy and work planning to support CCBHCs. Priority focus in areas such as financing, clinic operations, workforce development, access redesign, quality improvement, and integrated care models.
- Drive strategies to tailor TTA approaches based on clinic readiness, capacity, and performance data, ensuring TTA approaches are responsive, data-informed, and equity-centered.
- Partner with the state CCBHC-T team to develop materials and resources for technical assistance activities as needed and as it relates to areas of expertise.
- Provide strategic guidance that ensures project design and implementation aligns with state's vision for behavioral health.
- Identify and drive opportunities for cross-collaboration and alignment with other state initiatives, systems, and priorities, specifically including specialty services, substance use services, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs).
- Proactively identify potential risks that could compromise the impact of the project and advise on solutions.
- Support relationship building with key stakeholders and engage additional stakeholders as needed to drive strategic vision.
- Serve as a liaison, as needed, to ensure clear and consistent communication is shared with key stakeholders.
- Create communication pathways with key stakeholders to support the sustainability of the project outcomes.
- Serve as a primary liaison with Kansas state agencies, provider associations, clinic leaders, and other key partners.
- Facilitate cross-clinic and cross-system learning to promote shared problem-solving and dissemination of effective practices.
- Support alignment across initiatives and partners to reduce duplication and maximize impact.
