Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CCU/CVICU position at a top-ranked heart and vascular teaching hospital in Washington, DC, requiring rotating day/night shifts and strong critical cardiac care skills.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a 22-bed CCU/CVICU within a 748-bed short-term acute care teaching hospital ranked among the top 50 heart and vascular centers in the country
  • Patient population includes those in cardiogenic shock, awaiting transplant, post-cardiac arrest, acute MI, and post-interventional cardiology procedures, including patients on life-supporting devices and medications
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Charting via Cerner
  • 3x12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30), with rotations occurring every 2–4 weeks; candidates preferring nights may rotate less frequently
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to other ICU or IMC units within the same level of acuity
  • Flexible orientation hours available to meet individual associate needs
  • Device certifications offered throughout the contract
  • Shift flexibility is essential given rotating day/night schedule
  • Scrubs not provided; ceil blue scrub color required
  • First-time travelers will be screened on a case-by-case basis
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility should inquire about local rate eligibility
  • All time-off and scheduling requests must be disclosed upfront
Requirements
  • Active DC RN license required; a pending DC license is accepted, but proof of pending status must be provided and the license must be in hand prior to start date
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Proficiency in the following skills: 12-lead EKG acquisition, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, care of ventilated patients, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE use, and phlebotomy
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained required for consideration
