APCO, a global advisory and advocacy firm helping clients navigate a complex world and create lasting impact has an immediate opening for a Senior Consultant, Health communications professional to join our North America Health practice in New York or Washington

APCO has played leading roles in virtually every major health care issue over the past few decades, and our clients are drawn from across the US and global health care sector including leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, health care systems, health insurers, and medical device makers.
The ideal candidate will have a background in communications, public affairs, or a related field, primarily focused on health sector clients. Prior experience working in or supporting health care organizations on corporate communications, policy/public affairs, patient advocacy and disease awareness campaigns is also an advantage.
Responsibilities- Support and implement a wide range of strategic communication campaigns for our high profile, globally recognized clients
- Develop compelling healthcare communications and content to convey complex issues to the general public
- Conduct healthcare landscape monitoring, social media analysis, research projects, media list development, and stakeholder mapping
- Lead client projects, by managing deliverables and timelines, coordinating across work streams and with clients
- Drive thought leadership initiatives, positioning clients as industry experts and leaders in their field;
- Participate in business development activities including writing proposals and developing pitch decks
- Coordinate client meetings and events, including interviews, press conferences, round tables, and institutional meetings
- 4-6 years of strategic communications experience. Prior experience working in health corporate communications, policy/public affairs, patient advocacy and disease awareness campaigns is also a plus
- Solid project management experience and a proven ability to help manage multiple projects and client initiatives in a fast-paced environment while able to think quickly
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, writing and analytical skills, including experience writing strategic plans, messaging and press materials and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines
- Experience participating in business development opportunities a plus – industry research, proposal development and drafting, staffing plan management and pitching
- Excellent client and interpersonal skills; ability to manage independent client relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person
- Well-versed in current events and headline news at local, national, and international levels
- Requires US Work Authorization, unable to consider candidates with OPT/Post-OPT status.
The US base salary for this position ranges from $80,000/year to $90,000/year. Our compensation range for this role is inclusive of several US geographic markets. APCO targets an employee's pay within this range to be based on several factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, internal equity and/or geographic location.
