Responsibilities
Receiving specimens, verifying proper patient identification on specimens, requisition and associated documentation.Reviewing documentation to ensure adequate and accurate information.Entering patient and specimen information into Epic Beaker and generating a unique accession number for specimen/requisition labels and tissue cassettes.Assigning each specimen to the correct fellow and Attending Pathologist, ensuring each specimen is given to the correct fellow in a timely manner.Investigating, correcting, and documenting discrepant/problem specimens to ensure highest quality and patient safety as described in departmental procedures.Transcribing and billing pathology diagnostic work with knowledge of Pathology CPT coding to apply correct billing of basic procedure codes and demonstrating a clear understanding of billing rules to correctly code/bill routine technical and professional fee work.Quality assurance by verification of patient demographics.Cataloguing and maintaining an extensive archival collection of materials including microscopic slides, paraffin blocks and permanent wet tissue.Ensuring a clean, orderly laboratory and archival area.Delivering materials to specified location as requested.Performing other clerical support duties as assigned.Key Skills Needed

Salary Range: Minimum $17.11/hour - Maximum $28.26/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
