Convention Set Up Crew - Banquets

Overview

The Phoenix Park Hotel is seeking a dedicated and service-driven Banquet Houseperson to support our exceptional events and guest experiences. The property is a historic Washington, DC hotel and a proud member of Historic Hotels of America. We offer a starting rate of $21.75 per hour in a team-oriented environment.

As a Banquet Houseperson, you will play a key role in ensuring our meeting and event spaces are set, refreshed, and maintained to the highest standard. Your attention to detail and dedication to service will contribute to the exceptional experiences we deliver.

• High school graduate/equivalent vocational training certificate or work equivalent
• Previous experience in a similar position in the hospitality industry
• Knowledge of various room setups and standard equipment involved; knowledge of proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques
• Adhere to timelines in completion of set-ups
• Previous guest relations training

• Maintain complete knowledge of daily scheduled group functions, locations and times; locations of all hotel function spaces and room names; various styles of meeting and banquet room settings; correct maintenance and use of equipment; departmental/hotel policies and safety guidelines
• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items/surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
• Review assignment sheets with Supervisor and update completed assignments
• Inspect set rooms for cleanliness and alignment with group requirements; rectify deficiencies
• Inspect cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and supplies in function areas; rectify deficiencies
• Set up rooms and function areas with tables, chairs, staging, dance floor, flip charts, easels, blackboards, and other equipment as specified by group requirements
• Set up table linens, skirting and tabletop items as specified by group and in accordance with standards
• Refresh rooms as scheduled, following departmental standards
• Break down function areas as scheduled and per procedures
• Empty trash, ashtrays, and ash urns in public areas into proper recycling containers
• Empty vacuum cleaner bags, replace and clean machines; return soiled linens/skirting to Laundry
