Talent Manager, Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Employee Relations, HR Manager
LHH is partnering with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in the Washington, DC area to identify a Benefits & Compensation Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role offers a hybrid schedule, beginning with three days onsite and transitioning to two days onsite once the individual is fully integrated. The hourly pay rate is between $27-$34 and permanent salary range is $65,000–$75,000, depending on experience.
This position plays a key role in supporting benefits administration, compensation processes, HR operations, and compliance initiatives while contributing to a positive, inclusive organizational culture.
- Administer comprehensive employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, leave programs, transportation subsidy, education assistance, wellness initiatives, and workers’ compensation.
- Manage day-to-day benefits operations including eligibility, enrollments, terminations, reporting, vendor coordination, and employee support.
- Lead planning and execution of annual open enrollment and benefits-related events in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Prepare and distribute employee communications regarding benefits, wellness initiatives, compensation updates, and HR policies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA).
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries.
- Support annual compensation cycles including benchmarking, salary surveys, job evaluations, and internal equity reviews.
- Assist with tuition reimbursement requests, interim pay changes, and other compensation-related updates.
- Maintain and analyze HR data related to compensation, benefits, and workforce metrics.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to support leadership decision-making.
- Assist with Short-Term Disability (STD), FMLA, and other leave administration in coordination with payroll and third-party administrators.
- Support benefits-related processes for employee separations, including COBRA administration.
- Maintain accurate HRIS records and confidential personnel files, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Process employee status changes and organizational updates.
- Minimum of 3 years of related HR experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
