What You’ll Do

Do you enjoy coordinating high-impact onboarding programs while serving as a trusted resource to attorneys throughout their careers? As a Human Resources Coordinator
, you will be a key member within the Kirkland & Ellis Talent team, supporting attorneys in the Washington, DC and Philadelphia offices. In this highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will help drive attorney onboarding, integration, engagement, and transition initiatives that directly shape the attorney experience.

From organizing new associate orientation and supporting lateral attorney arrivals to coordinating leave reintegration and departure processes, you will play an essential role in delivering thoughtful, high-touch human resources support. You’ll partner closely with attorneys, practice groups, and firm leadership while collaborating across teams including Employee Relations, Performance Review, Learning & Development, and Kirkland Wellbeing to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for attorneys at every stage of their career lifecycle.

  • Attorney Onboarding & Integration: Lead all aspects of onboarding for new attorneys in the DC and Philadelphia offices, including documentation processing, system entries, orientation planning (annual fall associate and rolling lateral), and coordination of arrival logistics.
  • Attorney Lifecycle & Transition Management: Support key transitions such as arrivals, leaves of absence, reintegration, and departures—ensuring seamless processes, proactive communication, and consistent follow-through.
  • Program Development & Event Coordination: Plan and execute practice group and attorney-facing programs, including mentoring and development initiatives, partnering closely with office leadership and practice groups.
  • HR Systems, Data & Reporting: Maintain and monitor People Soft records, track personnel changes, manage databases and listservs, and analyze spreadsheets to support program administration and data-driven decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Service Delivery: Collaborate with Human Resources colleagues, administrative teams, and firmwide partners to ensure a high-touch, seamless experience for the attorney population.
  • Compliance, Communication & Operations: Draft correspondence and program materials, prepare presentations, maintain organized documentation systems, manage onboarding logistics and payroll/system coordination, uphold confidentiality standards, and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment, preferably in an attorney- or senior professional-facing human resources role.
  • Experience facilitating onboarding and a strong understanding of core human resources functions and employment regulations.
  • Demonstrated discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and professional correspondence.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and data functions) to manage high volumes of data accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across offices and teams while maintaining a client-focused, solutions-oriented mindset.
