OverviewThe Assistant Human Resources Manager supports dual-property HR operations for Viceroy Washington DC and Hotel Zena, serving as a strategic partner to department leaders and Executive Committee members. This role leads day-to-day execution of key HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, and colleague engagement initiatives, ensuring full alignment with company standards and Washington, DC employment regulations. This position requires operational rigor, sound judgment, and the ability to manage confidential matters with professionalism in a fast‑paced luxury hospitality environment.
Responsibilities- Partner with department leaders to execute full-cycle recruitment, selection, and onboarding strategies
- Provide guidance on performance management, corrective action, and progressive discipline processes
- Conduct employee relations investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Washington, DC employment laws (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, wage & hour regulations)
- Maintain HRIS data integrity and personnel documentation in accordance with audit standards
- Support payroll processing, timekeeping review, and benefits administration
- Assist with workforce planning, turnover analysis, and HR reporting metrics
- Support colleague engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and training development efforts
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and business information
- Participate in internal audits, compliance reviews, and policy implementation initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of Human Resources experience (luxury hospitality preferred)
- Comprehensive working knowledge of federal and DC employment law including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and wage & hour regulations
- Experience managing employee relations and performance management processes
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification preferred
